==================================================

This is a very simple wood frame home with 2 stories, built in 1868 and became notorious on June 10, 1912 with the murder of entire family of J.B. Moore and two young, overnight guests, of the family. As this murder has been so sensationalized with the descriptions of the axe murders and ‘who done its’, this recorder will leave that out of her report and go on with the investigation performed. House has some furniture in attempt to match with period in time of J.B. Moore’s family might have had. But I’m sure furnishings would have been much more elaborate – due to the fact Mr. Moore was a wealthy merchant of that time.

Scott and I arrived ahead of the team to get some day pictures and talk with the present owners, Martha and Darwin Linn. They advised that a film crew was presently in the home doing a movie, and we couldn’t go into the home until dusk. We advised that was ok with us.
We did get the address from them finally and drove over to the house to locate it before dark. The filming crew had moved away from the home for other shots in town and we were told by Darwin and Martha that we could take some day pictures and enter home.
We did enter the home and take some day pictures. Scott walked around the house with EMF reader to find off scale readings. The home was situated on a corner lot with close proximity to overhead heavy voltage lines and just across the street from an electrical power station.
12:30 A.M.
Team was finally allowed in the home after the camera crew called it quits for the night. Scott walked about living room with the EMF reader taking readings.
Joe requested the following team members take up positions:
UPSTAIRS (BEDROOMS & ATTIC):
Jessica/Teresa/Jenny
Jessica took up position in attic on far east side of home, setting up her experiments.
Teresa’s position was in bedroom on south side of home, setting up her experiments.
Jenny’s position was master bedroom – facing north. She also set up experiments.
MAIN FLOOR (KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, "BLUE ROOM"):
Scott/Robyn/Joel/Sharon(myself)Scott was positioned in the living room on southwest side of home.
Robyn and Joel set up in Blue Room, bedroom on northwest of home.
I was positioned with the Control Monitor in kitchen.
1:05 A.M.
Joe checking on everyone and their positions for experiments.
I had a sudden sensation of enormous heat by wood burner in the living room. I had to slowly put my hand on stove to believe it was not hot. I really thought someone had lit the stove for some reason on a hot August day.
1:10 A.M.
All team members now set up. Scott was explaining paranormal activities of home as told by present owners.
1:15 A.M.
Teresa found dog skull in attic attached to box. Team looked over – wondering why something like this should be left there and then returned object to its ‘resting place’.
Joel thought he heard tapping from side window in living room. It was discovered that when anyone move across floor upstairs, the windows downstairs vibrated in living room.
1:30 A.M.
Joe announced that investigation would begin at 1:40. Batteries in Joe’s parabolic mike quit as did batteries on my radio, flashlight and Scott’s lantern.
Jessica announced she was still working on situating her camera. She was running through a lot of batteries.
Erin announced that she had been upstairs and had seen the closet door in south side bedroom, the children's room, open and close, twice. Joe went upstairs to check but could not get it to repeat this action and could not cause it to happen.
1:40 A.M. Investigation began:
1:45 A.M.
Joe checked monitor to check on positions of experiments. Jessica advised she was getting a lot of feedback on her mike. Joe went upstairs to fix.
1:50 A.M.
Joe interviewing Yvette in living room. Scott’s EMF meter going off in blue room.
2:03 A.M.
Joe announced, “All lights out”.
2:05 A.M.
Robyn advised the curtains in “Blue Room" moving. This turned out to be a draft from a poorly sealed window. Scott was sitting in closet in of "Blue Room" and advised – room really cold, colder than draft could account for. EMF meter going off. It appeared as if something was moving across room from closet. Room really cold. Temperature inside closet read 71 Degrees – EMF meter reading 3 ½ to 4.
2:10 A.M.
| | | | KITCHEN: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 68% | | | | | | | Barometer | | 104 | | | | | BLUE ROOM: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 73% | | | | | UPSTAIRS: | | Temperature: | | 70 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 65% |
House felt really cold – even in kitchen. I had to shut kitchen door – north side of room and close as well as door facing south. Scott’s batteries in camera going dead.
2:30 A.M.
| | | | KITCHEN: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 70% | | | | | | | Barometer: | | 104 | | | | | BLUE ROOM: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 70% | | | | | UPSTAIRS: | | Temperature: | | 70 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity | | 68% |
2:45 A.M.
Joe interviewing team members of their ideas and hopes of DIEPART
2:50 A.M.
Joe went upstairs and tried to duplicate the closet door upstairs opening and closing on its own accord. However no Joy. Asking it yelling at it walking back and forth did nothing to provoke the closet door upstairs to move one way or another.
It was reported by other investigative teams this door moved on its own numerous times. We saw nothing to back those claims up.
One investigator and the City View reporter thought the door opened a crack or two but it could have been from people walking around to get in place upstairs...
| | | | KITCHEN: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 70% | | | | | | | Barometer: | | 104 | | | | | BLUE ROOM: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 70% | | | | | UPSTAIRS: | | Temperature: | | 70 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity | | 70% |
House quiet ---------------------very quiet…….could hear loud……very loud cricket coming from Blue Room
3:00 A.M. Joe announced break………………………
3:15 A.M.
Joel advised that something hit the front of his parabolic mike. It pulled it down. This was the second time it happened. The first time happened about it was about 2:00 A.M. in the kitchen, and now it was happening again in living room.
Erin described a tingling sensation in the back of her legs.
Joe upstairs in bedroom attempting to get presence or entity (if one existed) to open closet door in what was believed to be boys’ bedroom.
Teresa was in kitchen beside me when she suddenly stopped walking. She thought she had caught her pant leg on something. Thought she felt something pulling on back of her pants. Nothing there. After she left room, I stood in same area to see if I could feel anything……nothing…..
3:20 A.M.
Joe requesting team to change places. Asked Joel to use camera now for documentation.
3:25 A.M.
| | | | KITCHEN: | | Temperature: | | 68 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 70% | | | | | | | Barometer: | | 104 | | | | | BLUE ROOM: | | Temperature: | | 70 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 68% | | | | | UPSTAIRS: | | Temperature: | | 70 Degrees | | | | | | | Humidity: | | 68% |
3:30 A.M.
Joe requested that 3 team members sit on upper stairs to see if they witnessed any heaviness in air as reported by another paranormal investigative team at this same time period. Scott, Robyn, and myself obliged. Nothing…………
Was a nice little break…………..
3:35 A.M.
Team experienced no change in stairwell atmosphere. No heaviness of any kind. Joe asked us to resume our other duties.
3:50 A.M.
Joe announced that everyone needed to head to living room. Talked about Yvette and Erin’s night with us. Asked if anyone had experienced anything paranormal. Wanted to know our opinions of the night. It was suggested by Teresa that we try for another half hour to investigate in total silence.
4:25 A.M.
Joe announced end of investigation. Team to pack up and head out.

OPEN LETTER TO DIEPART MEMBERS
several days after the
Villisca House Investigation...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Guys...
We are not charlatans. We are not sensationalists. We are not psychics. We are average people looking into claims of the paranormal. We don't make stuff up, and we know not every place is genuinely haunted. We did our job and now we move on to the next investigation in the hopes of finding even more evidence...
Although Villisca seemed dead (no pun intended), I am glad the spirits of those poor children, and those vicious killers are at rest. I again want to say I AM GLAD WE DIDN'T GET A LOT! That tells me that those spirits are probably at rest and are not stuck in that awful place being again victimized by the likes of us and others out to find the paranormal.....
We have seen some strange stuff in our journeys, and it is not over by a long shot. This investigation was very hard for me because of the nature of the beast here... CHILDREN, INNOCENT CHILDREN struck down in the prime of their lives...
GOD BLESS US ALL!!
